The unclassified personnel files in boxes 10-14, as well as the personnel-related
files in box 27, are restricted in accordance with UWM Personnel File Policy
S-42 and Wis. Stat. 19.36 (10.b). Access is regulated by Section III.A.2 and
III.A.3. The Archives may also need to delay access to Box 31 for a reasonable
period of time to survey the records to identify protected information. Consult
an archivist for details.
The student fellowship records in box 26 are restricted in accordance with the
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and UW-System RRDA UWSTU046.
Access may be granted by permission of the University Records Custodian or
pursuant to the terms stipulated in 34 CFR 99.31. Records in Box 26 relating to
the sale of Art Museum Assets contain confidential legal advice and are
restricted under Wis. Stat. 905.03 (Lawyer-Client Privilege).
There are no access restrictions on the rest of the collection, which is open to
all members of the public in accordance with state law.
The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel,
privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection
(Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).
An unknown individual transferred the collection to the Archives prior to 1989.
Peck School of the Arts transferred accession 2015-041 in April 2016, accession
2016-008 in August 2016, and accession 2017-008 in September 2017.
Bill Jackson processed the original collection at the Archives in May through
June 1994. The material in box 15 was added in September 1994. Christel Maass
added a box of planning documents in November 1997 (box 17). Christel Maass
added an unprocessed box of posters to the collection in January 2009. The
unprocessed posters were integrated with posters formerly in box 16 and placed
in an oversize folder. Brad Houston processed some additional material in
December 2014. Phyllis Reske and Brad Houston processed accession 2015-041
(boxes 18-27) in May 2016. Brad Houston added information about accession
2016-008 to the collection in October 2016. A box of fine arts materials from
the Dept of Theatre (accession 2015-009) was integrated into the collection as
Box 28 by Ashlie Biddle in February 2017. Christel Maass added an additional
item to the collection in November 2017. Clare Ruedinger (supervised by Christel
Maass) processed accession 2017-008 from November 2017 to January 2018.
