The unclassified personnel files in boxes 116-118, the grievance and search and screen
committee files in boxes 144-149, the entirety of accessions 2001-114 and 2022-002, and
the records in box 123 are restricted in accordance with UWM Personnel File Policy S-42.
Access is regulated by Section III.A.2 and III.A.3.
There are no access restrictions on the rest of the collection, which is open to all
members of the public in accordance with state law.
The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel,
privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin
Statutes 19.21-19.39).
The initial collection was transferred to the Archives before 1989. Additional records
were transferred to the Archives in 1993 (accession 1993-008) and 1999 (accession
1999-040). The Vice Chancellor's Office transferred additional records in 2000 (accession
2000-032) and 2002 (accessions 2001-095 and 2002-023). The Archives accessioned various
small accumulations in November 2006 (2006-020). The Provost's Office transferred
accession 2009-038 to the Archives in January 2008. Accession 2008-053 was transferred to
the Archives in May 2009. Barbara Salinsi donated materials in May 2002 (accession
2001-114). Amanda Seligman, Chair of the Provost's Task Force on Family and Medical Leave,
donated materials in August 2011 (accession 2011-005). The Office of the Provost donated
additional materials in August 2012 (accession 2012-019). The Office of the Provost
donated additional materials in June, 2022 (accession 2022-002).
Web crawling is managed through the Internet Archive's Archive-It service. This series
includes links to both the university's collection and the Internet Archive's public
collection. Web records from UWM are collected on a semi-annual basis. Crawls of the UWM
Website may be performed at more frequent intervals in cases of major events, significant
additions or changes to the UWM Website or the websites of schools and colleges, etc.
Social Media feeds are crawled on an as-requested basis.
Mark A. Vargas processed the collection at the Archives between May and October 1993.
Additional accessions to the collection (1993-008 and 1994-006) were processed at the
Archives by James P. Kusik between December 1994 and June 1995. Jeremy Brett added
accession 2006-020 in 2006. Jenny Juno processed accession 1999-040 in March 2008 (Brad
Houston supervised). Matt Shoemaker processed accession 2001-095 in September 2008 (Brad
Houston supervised). Dan Vinson processed accessions 2000-032 and 2002-023 in September
2008 (Brad Houston supervised). Shukrani Gray processed accession 2009-038 in July-August
2010 (Brad Houston supervised). Ashley VonRuden processed accession 2010-002 in
August-September 2010 (Brad Houston supervised). Hayley Jackson updated the finding aid to
include information about accessions 2001-114 and 2011-005 in October 2013. Hayley Jackson
processed accession 2008-053 in Spring 2014 (Brad Houston supervised). Brad Houston and
Claire Dinkelman updated the finding aid in April and July 2017 to include information on
the Web Series. Shiraz Bhathena updated the finding aid in May 2019 to include electronic
folders for TRIO and Affirmative Action Plan. Lauran Slagle minimally processed 2022-002
in July, 2022.
As of May 17, 2019, all electronic files were accessible on a Intel Core i5-8500 CPU
(3.00 GHz, 8.00 GB RAM) running Windows 10 Education Version 2018. Software used to access
the files includes Adobe Reader XI and Microsoft Office 2007.

The records in the Web Archives Series were collected by the Internet Archive's Wayback
Machine and Archive-It Web Harvesting tools.
During processing, accession 2012-019 was discovered to be more appropriately grouped
with UWM Archival Collection 137 (UW-Milwaukee Academic Program and Curriculum Committee
Records), and was subsequently processed as an addition to that collection.
