Access Restrictions

Access to the nitrate negatives is restricted; researchers must use digital access copies. Handling the lantern slides and glass negatives requires the assistance of a staff member. Some of the employee records contain social security numbers and are restricted. Electronic files must be viewed on computers in the AGSL. Contact a staff member for more information. There are no access restrictions on the rest of the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law.

The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).

Acquisition Information

The American Geographical Society of New York transferred the collection to the American Geographical Society Library for processing in January 2011.

Processing Information

Bob Jaeger, with the assistance of Will Tchakirides, Sarah Steinbacher, and Jasmine Burns, processed the collection from 2012-2015.
