Henry G. Bryant was born on November 7, 1859 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. He was an
explorer and a writer, primarily interested in the Arctic. Bryant served as
president of the Geographical Society of Philadelphia. He was also a founding member
of the American Association of Geographers and served as a delegate to the
International Geographic Congress. He died in 1932.
The Eighth International Geographic Congress consisted of individuals interested in
the exploration of unknown regions. Their goal was to complete the exploration of
the Arctic and the Antarctic regions.
The Geographical Society of Philadelphia was established in 1891, in order to bring
exploration to the public through travel, science, and history.
