LeRoy Wendt & Associates, Inc., was a home-building company that operated out of
their offices at 1845 N. 12th Street in Milwaukee. Before starting this company,
LeRoy Wendt held various jobs, including at the Milwaukee Builders & Finance
Corp., president of Ace Holding Co., a building contracting company, and then for
the Special Equipment Co. From 1935-1940 he was the president of LeRoy Wendt &
Associates. The company was advertised as being “General contractors & builders,
real estate, mortgage loans & insurance.” In 1941, Wendt was reportedly
practicing as an architect without being registered as one. In 1942 he was convicted
of larceny for not building houses after receiving the money to do so. He was
sentenced to 1-2 years in the Waupun prison. After his release, Wendt later moved to
Chicago.
