The August Riemenschneider Negatives Collection contains 242 glass plate negatives of
varying sizes that date to circa 1911. The negatives depict images of over thirty
Milwaukee Fire Department stations, as well as fireboats, horse and buggies,
insurance patrols, and firefighters. The majority of the negatives portray the
employees of the fire department being professionally photographed as a group in
front of their respective stations. Significant members of the Milwaukee Fire
Department are also illustrated throughout the collection and include Chief Thomas
A. Clancy, District Chief Henry Kruse, and District Chief Lucas A. Van Toor.
