Biography/History

The Koehring Company was founded in Milwaukee in 1907 by Phillip Koehring, W.J. Koehring, and Richard Kiel. The first products built by the Koehring Company were concrete mixers. The company quickly diversified, and by 1928 they manufactured pavers, gas and electric powered shovels, cranes, and draglines. Koehring Company’s first location was on 16th Street, but by 1928 they had moved to large office and manufacturing facilities on N. 31st Street and Concordia Ave. The company would grow to have locations not only across the United States but also internationally, in countries such as Canada, Cuba, the Netherlands, and Japan. The company merged with AMCA Ventures, Inc. in 1981. In January of 1987 Koehring Cranes and Excavators, Inc. was purchased by Terex Corp.
