This collection is comprised of an unpublished manuscript written by Mr. Donahoe in
1909 called “History of Milwaukee in the Early Days.” It contains his personal
recollections of the history of Milwaukee and the ways in which it has changed,
including the original topography of Milwaukee, early transportation systems of the
City, and his account of the Bay View massacre in 1886. A photocopy of the
manuscript is also available in the Humanities Room.
