Biography/History

William J. Donahoe (1846-1928) was born in Herkimes County, New York, and came to Milwaukee when he was only a few months old. He was a conductor on the earliest public transportation system in Milwaukee, the two horse-drawn carts owned by George H. Walker. He worked for 53 years for the Illinois Steel Company, and also wrote histories on the cities of Milwaukee and Bay View.
