Burger Boat Company, ship building documents (copies), circa 1940-1960
Scope and Content Note: Contains facsimiles of untitled documents on shipbuilding. Materials include photocopies of images, schematic drawings, diagrams, maps, bulletins, and other descriptive information used by the Burger Boat Company of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to construct vessels for the U.S. Navy during World War II. Also contains newsletters and brochures for non-military vessels.

Scope and Content Note: A promissory note from John Burton (1847-1930) in which he covers the sums necessary to regain three promissory notes from one Fredrick North for a total of $610.

Scope and Content Note: Ledger apparently documents the lifespan of the company, from its incorporation to its dissolution. Based in Milwaukee, it not only bought and sold land, but also built houses, streets, and wells. Contains articles of incorporation, minutes, and some loose items.

Currie, Allister James, garden receipts ledger, 1901-1902
Scope and Content Note: This ledger tracks individuals who purchased vegetables from Currie, which types, and their cost. The ledger also tracks cash taken in, credits, and vegetables planted in April 1902. Information in this ledger represents work from the A. Currie and Company in Milwaukee.

Hendrick, John W., farming ledger, 1880-1894
Scope and Content Note: The ledger lists income and expenses for Hendrick. Expenses include payments to laborers and purchases for livestock and farm supplies. Income came from the sale of produce from the farm including beef, calves, hides, hogs, horses, eggs, butter, cream, corn, tobacco, seed, wheat, and other products.

Scope and Content Note: Consists of three advertisements for products from the Hirsch Brothers Company, a Milwaukee company that sold agricultural items as well as buggies and wagons.

Hornbach & Wagner (Architectural Iron Works), account book, 1875-1885
Scope and Content Note: Contains a single notebook used as a ledger to track expenses. The entries give very brief, mostly one or two word descriptions of the expense, date, and amount. The cover has the names Mrs. Hornbach and Geo. Brumder written on it. According the first page dated 4 May 1875, Hornbach’s interest in Hornbach & Wagner were sold to J. Wagner for $17,500.

Scope and Content Note: The ledger documents goods shipped by Lathrop & Munroe. Entries provide the date, the name of the ship, the name of the person(s) or enterprise, and the amount and type of commodity shipped. Sometimes a monetary amount is included. Later entries have “Lathrop & Munroe” crossed out and “W.H. Lathrop” written above.

Scope and Content Note: This is a personal spending and purchasing log for Meinecke (1830-1905) from January 1853 to May 1855, in which he records all of his fiscal expenditures and receptions for the time period.
