This collection contains the aldermanic records of John Kalwitz and is divided into
five series. The first series deals with the work of various City departments,
including the Department of Public Works and the Police Department. Series 2 deals
with Common Council matters such as the City budget. Series 3 is comprised of
general correspondence from Kalwitz's constituents on a variety of matters. Series 4
includes materials from Milwaukee County agencies and other non-City departments,
particularly Milwaukee Public Schools. The final series is the Subject Files. It
deals with a wide array of subjects, such as the construction of Miller Park, gaming
expansion at Potawatomi Bingo, the cryptosporidium outbreak, crime in the City, and
housing. These series contain correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, and
reports.
