George Haberman Family Photographs

Biographical Note

George Haberman (1894-1979) was a photographer in La Crosse, Wisconsin, from 1923-1963. He was born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, April 23, 1894, to Frank and Mary (Stier) Haberman. He married Frieda Guentner. Haberman was a photographic apprentice under William Pryor in La Crosse from about 1913-1915, and then served as an aerial photographer instructor at the Kodak campus during World War I, returning to La Crosse after the War. He opened his own photographic studio in 1923 retiring in 1963. Haberman moved the business to La Crescent, Minnesota, shortly before his retirement.

Haberman and his wife had two sons, Frank and Louis, and two daughters, Georgia (who married Glenn Maas) and Betty (who married a Grimm). Haberman died Aug. 25, 1979, in La Crosse, and is buried in the Crucifixion Church Cemetery in La Crescent, Minnesota.
