The bulk of the materials include minutes from the La Crosse County Library Board (1921-1980). The photocopied minute books prior to 1973 also include some newspaper clippings, annual reports, correspondence, budgets and circulation figures.
Other materials include a list of board members from 1923-1948, and a brief history of the La Crosse County Library (1963). The reports of the Traveling Library System and county library (1905-1935) also include brief historical accounts of the La Crosse County Traveling Library System, the Campbell Library Club, and the La Crosse County Library.
