Wheeler (1811-1872), an early missionary to the Ojibwa Indians at Madeline Island, Wisconsin (1841-1866), and his family. The Wheelers also founded and operated the Indian boarding school at Odanah, Wisconsin, in 1845. They later moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, where they were prominent in religious and manufacturing circles. The papers mostly consist of correspondence with family, officials at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and other missionaries. Also includes diaries, writings, family photographs, and family library. |

(1897-1976), consisting entirely of the firm's legal papers and correspondence with clients, attorneys, witnesses, and others. Most records date from the years 1929 or 1930 to 1939. They are arranged by case numbers, assigned by the law firm, which follow a roughly chronological order. All types of court and non-court work are represented, with probate and civil court matters being the most numerous. |

(4 archives boxes and 2 flat boxes) Call Number: Green Bay Mss 110 Abstract: Records of the White House Milk Co., Manitowoc, Wisconsin (1917-1979), a subsidiary of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, primarily involved in the production of evaporated milk, but also in the forefront of developing a process for the production of instant milk in the 1950s. Records from the central office in Manitowoc include a general ledger of expenditures, an equipment register, a depreciation schedule, budgets, and a union contract. Records from the various plant locations of Abbotsford, Eden, Marathon, Marinette, Mayville, Stratford, Vesper, West Bend, and Winneconne, Wisconsin, and Stephenson, Michigan, relate to the physical plant and equipment used. They include contracts, equipment specifications, and depreciation schedules. The records also contain a limited correspondence with the War Production Board on equipment ratings and sample can labels. |

Whittaker was the founder of the Whittaker Swimming School which operated for almost fifty years on the Milwaukee River at North Avenue. His son, George J. Whittaker, held world amateur swimming titles, broke speed records and succeeded his father as owner of the School. George and his siblings: Elba, Sylvia, Linet, David, and Pierre were all involved in swimming as lifeguards, instructors and as competitive swimmers at public parks and beaches, the YWCA and the Whittaker Swimming School. |
