Abstract: Miscellaneous records of stations WCBS, WCBS-FM, and WCBS-TV, the “flagship” stations of the CBS network in New York City (1929-), including broadcast editorials, transcripts, and recordings. Broadcast editorials, which comprise the majority of the collection, chiefly concern issues and events of interest to the metropolitan area, although they also reflect opinion on broader issues such as abortion and decriminalization of marijuana. About half are replies from the general public. Also included are transcripts of WCBS Radio Looks at Television, which featured interviews with such prominent media personalities and critics as Goodman Ace, Roone Arledge, Kenneth A. Cox, Walter Cronkite, Fred W. Friendly, Mark Goodson, Ernest Kinoy, Millard Lampell, Lee Loevinger, Elmer W. Lower, Richard A. R. Pinkham, Hubbell Robinson, Jr., Morley Safer, Ed Sullivan, David Susskind, Harriet Van Horne, Sylvester L. Weaver, Jr., John F. White, Perry Wolff, and David L. Wolper. Two interviews with Susskind are available on tape. Also included is a recording of a Camera Three program, July 4, 1965, with host James MacAndrew and guest Gerald Piel, publisher of Scientific American.

Abstract: Records of the Wisconsin Coordinating Council on Nicaragua (WCCN), a Wisconsin peace organization founded in 1984 that served as a regional coordinator for U.S.-Nicaragua sister city activities, promoted the Wisconsin-Nicaragua sister state relationship, and served as a model of citizen participation in foreign policy affairs. WCCN also assisted in monitoring the 1990 Nicaraguan elections. Included are files arising from the election observation work, research material collected for the book Friends in Deed: the Story of U.S. Nicaragua Sister Cities co-authored by WCCN director Liz Chilsen and Sheldon Rampton, grant proposals, a media resources manual, and subject files about other organizations with which the WCCN coordinated activities, including the Wisconsin Interfaith Committee on Central America (WICOCA) and the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organizations (IFCO).
