E. H. Farrington Papers, 1887-1936

Biography/History

Edward H. Farrington, son of Joseph R. and Ellen Holyoke Farrington, was born at Eastport, Maine, December 20, 1860, and died on March 22, 1934. He graduated from the University of Maine (B.S., 1881; M.S., 1885) and Yale University (M.S., 1882). In 1894, Farrington was appointed professor of dairy husbandry at the University of Wisconsin, after serving in similar positions in Connecticut and Illinois. He continued in this position until his retirement in 1927. Farrington wrote extensively on the science and chemistry of dairying and developed methods of testing milk, butter, and other dairy products.
