Fidelia Van Antwerp Papers, 1945-1958

Scope and Content Note

The papers consist of stories, poems, music, correspondence, and miscellaneous notes and clippings based on Wisconsin folklore and legends, and sent to the Wisconsin Rural Writers' Association, which became the Wisconsin Regional Writers' Association in 1910. The Association, a state-wide group of writers, was founded to encourage the efforts of creative writers toward state and local history and folklore. Fidelia Van Antwerp, first president of the Rural Writers' Association, kept and organized the material, classifying and indexing it by subject. The arrangement of the papers as received in the Archives was preserved.
