Abstract:
Papers documenting the Wisconsin Regional Writers' Association (formerly the Wisconsin Rural Writers' Association) and the Badger Folklore Society, consisting of stories, poems, notes, photographs, and correspondence concerning Wisconsin folklore and legends, kept by Fidelia Van Antwerp, first president of the association. A large group of letters concerns plans for a book on Wisconsin folklore pertaining to trees by the Wisconsin Idea Theatre. A Wisconsin place-names collection, compiled by Mrs. Helen C. Smith, relates the origins of the names and brief histories of present towns and villages in the state. Photographs include images of various unidentified landscapes and activities perhaps assembled circa 1950 for use in the publication Songs of the Winter Wilderness.
