Abstract:
Photostat copies of letters and quarterly reports written by almost 100 Presbyterian and Congregational missionaries in the Wisconsin region to the secretary of the American Home Missionary Society in Boston, reporting on the establishment of missionary centers and describing conditions in frontier settlements. Among the letter writers are Spencer Baker, Justus M. Clark, Gilbert Crawford, A. M. Dixon, Lemuel Hall, John C. Holbrook, Aratus Kent, Stephen Peet, Jeremiah Porter, Leonard Rogers, Jedediah D. Stevens, and Joseph H. D. Street. Originals of all but 95 of the letters are in the Hammond Library of the Chicago Theological Seminary.
