Abstract:
Papers of T. George Harris, an editor of Time, Look, Careers Today, and Psychology Today, consisting of correspondence, articles, editorial files, subject files, and notebooks. The editorial files comprise the bulk of the collection and contain correspondence, résumés, and drafts and printed copies of articles for Careers Today, Psychology Today (1968-1975), and Time (1958-1960). Related to the editorial files are several boxes of financial records for Communications Research Machines Inc., parent company of Psychology Today. Within the general correspondence is further material on Harris' executive and business activities for Psychology Today, as well as many letters pertaining to his interest in right-wing organizations. Correspondents of note include Harry S. Ashmore, William F. Buckley Jr., Bennett Cerf, John Sherman Cooper, Ben Moreell, David Riesman, and John Rousselot. Writings include a large file of stories written for Time, Inc., publications, 1949-1962, together with a few free-lance articles. Also present are biographical materials, a draft of Romney's Way: A Man and an Idea (1967), and miscellaneous notebooks.
