Scope and Content Note: Additions, 1948-1973, consisting of microfilm created by the office of Melvin Laird and documenting his congressional career as well as his terms as Secretary of Defense. The bulk of the microfilm covers Laird’s years in the Defense Dept. (1969-1972) and includes all of his public statements, various reports he authored as Secretary of Defense, and his daily press briefings. The microfilm documenting his congressional career largely duplicates papers present in the processed portion of this collection.
