Abstract:
Copies of orders, muster rolls, volunteer enlistment papers, monthly reports, quartermaster stores reports, ordnance and ordnance stores reports, records of deaths, discharges, and hospitalizations, morning reports, miscellaneous records, lists of clothing issued to the men in the company, and other records. Internal evidence suggests that the records may have been in the custody of William Freeman Vilas or Henry Vilas, both of whom served as captains of the 23rd.
