Abstract:

The records consist of case files relating primarily to the apportionment of tolls by the Public Service Commission for the Chippewa and Flambeau Improvement Company and the Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company. The files were created by the PSC under authority of Wisconsin Statues, Chapters 30, 31, 196, and 197, relating to water toll cases. The records document the management of resources of major Wisconsin watersheds by the two companies. The files also provide supplementary documentation for several other series, especially Series 1274 (Formal case files: water regulation) and Series 2292 (Formal case files: water reservoir cases).
