Abstract:
Records of the William A. Bancroft Auxiliary No. 6, United Spanish War Veterans, Racine, Wis., a patriotic society of women founded in 1905 whose members were either relatives of those who served in the Spanish-American War or women who had been active in war relief work. Although the organization was concerned with charitable contributions and patriotic education, its primary purpose was to provide aid to veterans and their dependents. The collection contains a nearly complete set of meeting minutes (1912-1918, 1923-1964), annual reports (1935-1945), excerpt summaries from annual state convention publications, bylaws, and news clippings. Membership records consist of a record book of charter members, membership applications, and roll calls of members and officers. Printed reports and convention proceedings are available in the State Historical Society of Wisconsin Library.
