Abstract:
Portions of The Kenosha Labor files collected by Joseph Schackelman, a later publisher and general manager of this Kenosha, Wis. weekly newspaper dedicated to the interests of workers in city and farm. Includes newsclippings, photographs, correspondence, notes, articles of organization, constitution and by-laws, union agreements and contracts, election materials, strike materials, programs, and directories of the newspaper, its printer, the Union Cooperative Publishing Company, and various Kenosha unions and labor councils including United Automobile Workers Local 72 of the Nash Motor Company (Nash-Kelvinator Corp.), United Steelworkers Local 9322 (previously Brass and Copper Workers Federal Labor Union Local 19322) of the Anaconda American Brass Company (formerly American Brass Company), Kenosha Union Legislative Council, Kenosha Trades and Labor Council, and Kenosha AFL-CIO Council. Also contains newsclippings and articles relating to additional Kenosha labor unions, U.S. labor history, and AFL-CIO merger.
