The collection consists of drawings from almost 300 projects, primarily residential though also including several schools, other public buildings, and businesses. The architectural firms were called variously Bentley and Merman, Merman and Skogstad, and Otto Merman Architect. Most drawings are located in La Crosse and other Wisconsin cities with a few in Minnesota and one each in Iowa and Indiana.
