Abstract:
Collection documenting four generations of the Dousman family of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, especially Hercules Dousman II, his wife Nina Sturgis Dousman, and their children. Included are portraits of family members and servants; photographs of paintings, busts, and statues of the family; and exterior and interior views of their Prairie du Chien estate, Villa Louis, before and after its refurbishment in 1930. Also included are images, circa 1895-1905, of family members and friends engaged in a variety of leisure activities including boating, hiking, target shooting, golf, croquet, tennis, chess, amateur theatricals, and other social events.
