Abstract:
Mainly records of business enterprises engaged in by three brothers, A. J., H. H., and Martin Rich, onetime residents of Horicon, Wisconsin. Three letterbooks, 1874-1882, contain outgoing letters from the Ontonagon, Michigan, office of their firm, which manufactured lumber and shingles and dealt in general merchandise in Wisconsin and Michigan. Two volumes of financial records include a ledger, 1857-1858, for Rich and Roper Livery in Horicon; journal entries, 1864-65, for Rich Brothers' general merchandise store in Horicon; and personal accounts, 1860-1868, of H. H. Rich. The bulk of the final volume consists of financial records of the Horicon Windmill Company, 1874-1895, but a few pages contain sales records kept by an unidentified merchant dealing in iron, lumber, and other products in Southport (Kenosha) in 1846-1847.
