Abstract:

Records of a northeastern Wisconsin community's chamber of commerce, established in 1925. The records document the area's most important industry--tourism--and to some extent, the local business community and its efforts to promote economic activity There is a fairly complete file of meeting minutes, budgets, and annual reports covering the period 1945 to 1990; a set of inquiry logs, ca. 1966-1990, which provide names and addresses of tourists and the type of accommodation being sought; advertising files containing marketing strategies as well as brochures, tourist maps, and other promotional materials; and rather fragmentary subject files, covering mainly the late 1980s, consisting largely of information on Chamber and community events and activities designed to promote tourism.
