The series of VISUAL MATERIALS includes lantern slides, photographs, and transparencies, including material from projects done by Vanderbilt in his position as curator of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin's photograph collections. Photographs include images of Historical Society of Wisconsin staff at work, as well as materials from and documentation of exhibits on various historic and artistic topics. Also included are photographs made by Vanderbilt showing Wisconsin rural and urban scenes, including landscapes, buildings, and detail photographs documenting man's imprint on the natural environment. WRITINGS includes materials for Between the Landscape and Its Other by Paul Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins University Press, 1993, including a copy of the book and selected panels.
