Abstract:
Records of Bearings for Re-establishment, an organization formed in 1965 to provide support and counseling to help former priests and other clergy return to secular life. The organization dissolved in 1973. Included are a recorded historical interview; administrative records of the main New York City office and various satellite offices; financial and fundraising records; correspondence; client files; information on Opportunities for Professional Transition, a for-profit counseling subsidiary, and related organizations; plus a filmed interview with William Restivo, founder of the organization. The client files contain detailed information on the career and personal lives of approximately 3000 individuals.
