Abstract:
Papers of a former state senator (1957-1961) and lobbyist from Milwaukee, primarily consisting of constituent correspondence. Included are many letters expressing views on issues of the 1957 and 1959 sessions such as income tax withholding, billboard controls, mental health, facilities for the mental retarded, and released time for religious education. Correspondence with other legislators and other political leaders is limited and includes exchanges with Claude Jasper, Robert Knowles, Warren Knowles, Philip G. Kuehn, and Vernon Thomson. These letters relate to both legislation and to electoral politics, 1957-1960. Also included are a few bill drafts and copies of speeches. There are no files on Hendee's career as a registered lobbyist.
