Abstract:
Records of the Teaching Assistants Association (TAA), a labor union representing graduate teaching and research assistants on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. In 1969 the union, which is Local 3220 of the American Federation of Teachers, became the first such union to win exclusive bargaining rights. The collection documents the union's organizing and bargaining activities, lobbying efforts, strikes, membership, and public relations through correspondence, administrative and financial materials, contracts and grievance files, publicity materials, and audiovisual materials.
