Judith Ann Faber Papers, 1964-1968

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of Judith Faber's incoming correspondence, 1965-1966, and materials relating to the organizations with which Faber was connected. The arrangement of all materials is chronological within each category.

The incoming correspondence constitutes only one folder. It is chiefly concerned with Faber's activities in the University of Wisconsin Young Republicans; however, much of it is also personal.

Approximately one-half of the collection pertains to various Young Republican clubs and their activities. These papers include pamphlets, fliers advertising various activities, occasional copies of minutes of club meetings, correspondence of officers, constitutions and by-laws, resolutions, petitions, press releases, newsletters, news clippings, rough notes of meetings and speeches, and campaign materials for various club offices. Included is a brief paper written by Faber, March 25, 1966, stating her ideas for a possible reorganization of the Young Republicans (box 1, folder 2).

The remainder of the collection consists of similar materials relating to other organizations and activities in which Faber participated. These include pamphlets, student body election results, Student Senate agendas and occasional copies of minutes, budget proposals, and materials from events sponsored by various student organizations. The records of the Student Rights Party consist almost entirely of newspaper clippings. There are some leaflets and clippings from the Young Americans for Freedom, to which Faber did not belong. (The Madison Chapter of Young Americans for Freedom was founded in 1964 by David Keene and Dick Wright.)

The collection also contains some materials from political campaigns ranging from local politics to the Goldwater presidential campaign of 1964.
