Abstract:
Records of United Steelworkers of America, a union representing workers at the Nordberg Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, consisting of minutes of monthly union meetings from March 1937 to May 2004. The minutes record the local union financial statements, member and officer lists, and discussions of union issues and social events. The union was originally organized as Lodge 1137 of the Steelworker's Organizing Committee on behalf of the Amalgamated Association of Iron, Steel and Tin Workers of North America in May of 1937. On July 25, 1940 the local was officially chartered with the United Steelworkers of America. In 1970, the Nordberg Company was sold to Rex Chainbelt and became Rexnord in 1973. The name was changed again in 1987 to Nordco Inc., and is now known as Metso (Nordberg).
