Abstract:
Papers of a Republican representative of Wisconsin's 24th Assembly District (Menomonee Falls area, 1980-1997) concerning her leadership and involvement in the development and passage of Wisconsin's Sexual Predator Law (Chapter 980) in 1994. Included is collected background and research information; correspondence; a file reflecting Attorney General James Doyle's involvement in developing the legislation; testimony given by Schneiders in support of the bill; newsclippings; information about the Sex Offender Treatment Program at Oshkosh Correctional Institution; a file concerning legal challenges to the law's constitutionality; and information about the Sex Offender Community Notification Program. Ms. Schneiders' files concerning the State Capitol and Executive Residence Board, of which she was a member since 1983 and the chairperson from 1987 to 1997, and her files on the Governor's Task Force on Comparable Worth have been transferred to the State Archives.
