Papers of a social philosopher, writer, artist, and director of the Washington Park Zoo, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, containing correspondence, speeches and writings that largely concern socialism, and a few reproductions of his paintings. The correspondence includes letters to Joan London containing references to his acquaintance with her father Jack London, and to his work at the Washington Park Zoo and his membership in the Socialist Party; and carbons of many letters to Milwaukee socialists concerning his critique of Marxism. Writings include three longer works: The Tragedy of Marxism, Science and Thinking, and Lenin's Maggot, as well as shorter articles and speeches. One section of articles relates to his ideas concerning zoos. English
