Abstract:
Diaries and correspondence between Glenn Garlock and his family while he was on Army active duty in the Spanish-American War (1898), the 1916 Texas border incidient with Mexico, and World War I (1916-1919). Garlock's World War I letters describe his duties as an officer in the 128th Infantry, 32nd Division, conditions in the trenches while in France, as well as the impact of the war on the French people and countryside. The correspondence describes life in army camps prior to shipping out for the Philippines at Camp Harvey, Wisconsin and Camp Cuba Libre, Florida. Also included are letters from the World War I training camps at Waco, Texas and Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
