Scope and Content Note: Personal papers include extensive writings, and obituaries and correspondence concerning Knoll's death. Tape recordings in this collection are of Knoll as well as others mainly speaking on radio shows, and photographs depict Knoll at work and receiving the Hugh M. Hefner First Amendment Award. There is also an original ink cartoon by Paul Conrad titled “Progressive Magazine, Dr. Strangelove, editor.”
