Abstract:
Papers of Pulitzer prize winning journalist Homer Bigart (1907-1991) documenting his career with the New York Herald-Tribune and the New York Times. Included are clippings of his by-line articles; his World War II correspondence from Europe, 1943-1945; letters written to his sister and parents, circa 1940-1962, while he was stationed in Belgrade, Madrid, Paris, Saigon, and other foreign locales (and which include gossip regarding office politics during the declining years of the Tribune, and information about the George Polk murder); and photographs of Bigart at work and also of his extended family, circa 1900-1990.
