Records, mainly 1973-1983, of a non-profit health organization established in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1971 from a predecessor organization, the Women's Health Collective. Health Writers provided health advocacy, education, and referral services to the community, and it published the nationally-circulated Health Newsletter and various special publications. Included in the collection are fragmentary core organizational, financial, and staff records; activity records; clippings and news releases; and files on related organizations such as the Madison Sustaining Fund (MSF) Foundation, which provided a major share of Health Writers' funding. Small subject files document organizational activities such as the Patients' Bill of Rights and the Hill-Burton Act. English
