Abstract:

Records of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now)-Illinois, 1983-2006, principally from the Chicago office and head organizer Madeline Talbott, documenting the organization's activities concerning local actions and campaigns on such issues as abandoned housing, schools and various education programs, utility rates and energy assistance, jobs, housing, welfare, the living wage campaign, and predatory lending. Photographs document events and rallies, and include images of Bobby Rush, Luis Gutierrez, Barack Obama, and Jesse Jackson Jr.
