Abstract:
Papers of Alvin M. Peterson, a La Crosse County, Wis., naturalist and writer, consisting primarily of his writings documenting observations of nature, particularly birds and wild flowers. Present are many of Peterson's published works of fiction and non-fiction, draft manuscripts, clipping scrapbooks, leaf prints of wild flowers in the Coulee region, checklists and surveys of plants in the area, and illustrated notebooks on the transformation of his farm. The fiction consists of children's books which, like the non-fiction works, mainly feature nature topics. Three writing by Peterson's wife, Mae Rose (Draeger) Peterson, are also included in the collection.
