Abstract:
Records, primarily dated 1939-1940, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Lodge No. 1093 of B'nai B'rith, a Jewish fraternal organization that advocated on behalf of American Jews. Records consist of minutes, membership lists, and financial reports of the local lodge. Also included are letters, minutes, pamphlets, and financial records compiled by the local from regional and national offices of B'nai B'rith which document fundraising campaigns and lectures sponsored by the organization to educate Jews about the prevalence of anti-Semitism in America and Nazi propaganda. The latter materials were discovered under the floor boards of a La Crosse home during a 2002 renovation; the home was probably owned by Bernard and Faydell Sharp at the time the records were placed in the floor.
