Abstract:

Oral history interview with Leon Schachter about his experiences as a long-time (1948-1980) vice-president of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America and the United Food and Commercial Workers. He was particularly active in Meatcutter merger attempts. Interviewed by James Cavanaugh of the Historical Society staff, this interview is part of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Retired Leaders Oral History Project.
