Abstract:
Interview conducted by Dale Treleven of the Historical Society staff with Hardiman, a Waukesha County, Wis., farmer who served as state president of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation. The interview concerns Hardiman's experiences as a farm youth in Sussex, Wis., provides details on the 1919 draining of a swamp; and includes discussion of crops, social life, electric power, and farm machinery. He also talks of his fuel oil delivery business, farming on his own property, milk strikes, the Golden Guernsey Cooperative, and other farm organizations particularly the Wisconsin Council of Agriculture, the Waukesha County Farm Bureau, and the state Farm Bureau Federation.
