Abstract:
This collection contains the papers of Roy T. Harris, a professor in Dairy Science at UW-Madison from the 1900s-1940s. Harris attended the College of Agriculture's Winter Dairy Course in 1901 in order to study butter making. That same year, he accepted a position at the university working with Professor of Agricultural Chemistry F.W. Woll. By 1906, Harris was a full faculty member and was made assistant supervisor of all dairy testing in Wisconsin. Harris remained at the university for 47 years until his retirement in 1948. Materials in this collection include: general correspondence from 1948-1950, salary letters from 1900-1947, miscellaneous notes, miscellaneous papers and poetry from 1901-1973, newspaper clippings, Wisconsin Bankers' Farm Bulletins from 1914-1917, scripts from a WHA radio program that Harris was involved in, a 1904 world's fair booklet with admission tickets and a photograph of Harris, a binder or reports, articles, and speech notes, and other miscellaneous publications.
