This collection contains the papers of Mary Alice "Buff" Brennan (1937-2022), professor emerita of the Department of Dance at UW-Madison. Brennan earned her Master's and Ph.D. in Dance in 1966 at UW-Madison. She then began her position as a faculty member in the dance department in 1967, as well as chaired the dance program on 2 separate occasions. Brennan published many articles on the creativity of dance and the movement analysis of dance and contributed to the growth of dance as a field in many different ways. She was inducted to UW-Madison's Van Hise Society through her philanthropic contributions to the dance department. The materials in this collection include: 2 audio reels of lectures by Maja Schade from 1968, Brennan's Motor Learning Lectures from the Summer of 1969, Brennan's Motor Learning Seminar Project from May 1971, sheets for Rhythm tests, Brennan's publications from 1977-1983, a handbook titled, "Fundamentals of Movement: A Manual for Students - Prepared by a Staff Committee of The Department of Physical Education for Women - University of Wisconsin" from 1963, and Brennan's correspondence from 1993-2007, which includes 4 photographs.
