Abstract:

John Bascom was the president of the University of Wisconsin from 1874 until 1887. The president (now the chancellor) was the chief executive officer for the University of Wisconsin, and was responsible for managing UW's administrative offices, colleges and schools. This collection includes books written by Bascom, a handful of letters to and from Bascom, and addresses given at UW Baccalaureate ceremonies. There are additional materials from his daughter, Florence Bascom, concerning his death and estate, along with various notes, newspaper clippings, and articles about Bascom.
