The Earthwatch Radio collection includes materials created by and relating to the Earthwatch Radio program. The collection consists of two series. The first series, Earthwatch Radio production materials, includes recordings of daily episodes of the radio program as well as memos sent with the recordings to the radio stations, listing the episode titles and run times. The earliest recording dates from 1977 while the bulk of the recordings range in date from 1985 through 2000. The episodes are recorded on ¼" open audio reels as well as cassette tapes, with some overlap and duplication. Where information existed, cassettes and reels include information about their air date and episode number. Otherwise, audio is simply labeled with the collection number and the reel or cassette number. The audio recordings are grouped and described by year. The collection is not comprehensive and there may be gaps between episodes. Additionally, complete scripts from the program are included in this series and date from 1972, when the show began, through 1997. The collection includes scripts organized chronologically as well as by subject matter. The second series in the collection includes materials related to Earthwatch publications. Earthwatch/Wisconsin newspaper columns are short weekly articles on environmental topics that were distributed to newspaper editors to publish within their newspapers. The articles in the collection date from 1978 through 1981, when the column was discontinued. Additionally, there are three volumes of Earthwatching, a published collection of selected scripts from Earthwatch Radio, dated 1974, 1978, and 1990.
